South Asians Need
a "New Normal" Now
for Good Health!
Hi. I'm Dr. Mubin Syed and I am passionate about improving the health of South Asians around the world.
We as a community are in a health crisis, but most South Asians don't know it.
We are at high risk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other diseases.
It is partly due to our habits and choices like poor diets, high stress, and not enough exercise or sleep.
But more and more research shows that there's an underlying influence -- genetic adaptations from our ancestors having survived famines during the colonial period that led to predispositions for disease.
Despite our difficult health history, we can create a "new normal" for South Asian health.
OUR NEW NORMAL
With awareness of the past and to honor our ancestors, we can:
Make smart health choices
Carefully monitor our health
Talk with our healthcare practitioners about South Asian health predispositions
Spread the word with our family, friends, and community!
